How much does a new bathroom cost in the Netherlands? Budget to luxury (2026)
A complete bathroom of 5 to 10 m² in the Netherlands usually costs €8,500 to €15,000. Luxury runs from €15,000 to €25,000 or more. Below: the price per m², the split between labour and materials and what to watch for in quotes.
Price per m²
| Level | Price per m² (all-in) | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | €700 – €1,100 | Standard tiles, basic fixtures, layout unchanged |
| Standard | €1,100 – €1,700 | Walk-in shower, wall-hung toilet, underfloor heating |
| Luxury | €1,700 – €2,500+ | Designer fixtures, custom work, large-format tiles |
Another source gives €800 – €1,200 per m² for a small budget bathroom and from €2,000 for luxury. The order of magnitude agrees; the limits differ.
Total amounts
- Small (3 – 4 m²): €8,250 – €12,000 including materials
- Standard (5 – 10 m²): €8,500 – €15,000 including basic fixtures and tiles
- Large (10 – 15 m²): €15,500 – €21,500
- Luxury (8 – 12 m²) with walk-in shower, freestanding bath and underfloor heating: €15,000 – €25,000
A small bathroom costs more per m²: demolition, plumbing and a shower cost almost as much in a small room as in a large one.
Labour versus materials
For a standard 5 – 10 m² bathroom about 40 – 50% goes to labour (€6,500 – €12,000 excluding fixtures and tiles). Materials vary widely:
| Budget | Luxury | |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet | €150 – €350 | €700 – €1,500 |
| Shower | €400 – €750 | €2,500 – €6,000 |
| Bath | €600 – €900 | €2,000 – €4,000 |
| Vanity unit | €200 – €350 | €1,200 – €3,000 |
| Tiles per m² | €12 – €20 | €100 – €180 |
